Barbara Stembridge

Barbara Jones Stembridge, 69, of Chase City, VA, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2012. She was born in Red Oak, VA, the youngest of eight children, born on January 19, 1943, to the late Willie Thomas and Nannie Ruth Rickman Jones. Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, Sidney Bryant Stembridge, her brother James, and her sisters Frances, Ruby, Gladys, and Jean. She is survived by her two children, Ruth S. Mills (Jay) of Richmond, VA, and Evan B. Stem bridge (Sheila) of Chase City, VA, grandsons Joshua C. Stembridge and Dylan B. Stembridge, both of Chase City, brother Carl D. (CD) Jones of Chase City, sister Margaret Tuck (Tink) of Keysville, sister-in-law Valeria Rickman (Ray) of Chase City, friend and companion, Robert (Bobby) Newcomb of Fort Mitchell, VA, and many nieces and nephews. Bob, as she was known to her family and friends, was a long time member of and active in the Bethel Baptist Church and its choir, as well as the Chase City Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chase City Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
