George Carter, Jr.

George Edward Carter, Jr, 81, of Chase City, VA passed away on November 1, 2013. He was born on March 12, 1932 in Mecklenburg County to the late George Edward and Rachel Fitz Carter. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Audrey Ayers Carter, his daughter, Anne Carter Homes and her husband, Charles F. Homes, III of Boydton, VA, two brothers, Wayne C. Carter of Chase City, VA and Hershel Carter of Chesterfield, VA, two sisters, Shirley Andrews of Chase City, VA, and Norma Hamlett of Richmond, VA, one grandson, Mark Brandon Homes and his special friend, Michelle Phillips and her daughter Taya of Greensboro, NC, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Happy. Mr. Carter was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World and he was a retired General Contractor. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, In Care of Donna Smith, 9040 Trottinridge Rd, Chase City, VA 23924.
