Benjamin James Williams, 77, of Chase City, Virginia passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014. He was born on March 3, 1937 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia to the late Jesse James Williams and the late Ophelia Winn Williams. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn Johnson Williams, one daughter, Kristi Williams Mills and her husband, Michael S. Mills of Chase City, one granddaughter, his pride and joy, Macey Scott Mills of Chase City and his beloved cat, Mello Yello. He is predeceased by his sister, Mildred Williams Ashbrook. Mr. Williams is an Army Veteran, a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Post 43, and a veteran member of the National Skeet Shooting Association. He taught Auto Mechanics at the Mecklenburg Academy. Ben retired as Lieutenant of the Chase City Police Department after 30 years of service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. A graveside service with Military Honors by Post 43 will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship United Methodist Church, 25649 Highway 49, Chase City, VA 23924. Online condolences may be expressed at www.newcomballgoodfh.com.
