Gladys Tharpe

Gladys Russell Tharpe, age 78, of Boydton, Virginia passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015. She was born on June 2, 1937 in Halifax, VA to the late Charles Russell and the late Lottie Newcomb Russell. Mrs. Tharpe is survived by one daughter, Wanda Gail Tharpe of Richmond, three sons, Barry Thomas Tharpe of Boydton, Nathan Greg Tharpe and his wife, Susan of Alberta, and George Clint Tharpe of Boydton, three grandchildren, Nathan Thomas-Carroll Tharpe of Alberta, Crystal Marie Caparatta of Boydton and Summer Kaylene Lee Tharpe of Newport News, one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Marie Tharpe, two sisters, Nannie Baughan of LaCrosse and Doris Deal of South Boston, two devoted friends, Irene Dunn and Mary Newton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Thomas Tharpe, one son, Ricky Ray Tharpe, two sisters, Mary Powell and Mildred Guill and seven brothers, Charlie Russell, Tim Russell, F.A. Russell, George Russell, Lewis Russell, Irvin Russell, and Melvin Russell. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home in Chase City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 2 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow at Wylliesburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
