Evangeline Watts Jackson Hoyle, age 88, of Raleigh, North Carolina formerly of Wylliesburg, Virginia passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 after a brief illness. She was born on April 14, 1928 to the late Reverend Charles Howard Watts and the late Bettie Fallen Watts.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen Jackson of Raleigh, a granddaughter, Kathleen J. Varner and a great-grandson, Jackson Varner of Stuarts Draft, Va. She is also survived by a brother, Ryland C. Watts and his wife, Evelyn of Palmyra, Va, sisters, Elizabeth W. Hoyle of Charlottesville, Va and Virginia W. Wilkerson and her husband, Jimmie of Chase City, Va and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husbands, Daniel Claude Jackson, Jr. and James E. Hoyle, a son, Daniel Claude Jackson III and her sister, Marian Watts Turner.

Vangie graduated from Montreat College in North Carolina. She was a long time member of Wylliesburg Presbyterian Church in Va and St. Giles Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, NC. Vangie served as the first woman Elder in the Presbyterian Church and was a former President of the Women of the Church in the Southeast Synod. She had also previously been President of the Delaware, Maryland and Virginia Electric Cooperative.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Wylliesburg Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to the Chase City Rescue Squad, Wylliesburg Fire and Rescue, or a charity of your choice.
