Grayson Wray Cox, age 86, of Chase City, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017. He was born August 18, 1931 in Chase City to the late Charles Allen Cox and Annie Mae Sneed Cox.
Mr. Cox was a Cattle and Tobacco Farmer and a member of Mount Horeb Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents; three granddaughters, Michelle Cassada, Dianna Caknipe, and Amanda Dawn Scott; five brothers; and three sisters.
Grayson is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Inge Cox; two sons, Belden Wray "Button" Cox and wife, Shirley and Tony Vance Cox; two daughters, Peggy Cox Caknipe and husband, James, Jr. and Cheryl Cox Lowrey and husband, Charles; grandson that he raised as his own child, Grayson Bishop and wife, Casey; six grandchildren, Jason Cox and wife, Nicole, Heather Cox, Shaun Cassada, Jamie Caknipe, Jessica Caknipe, and James Troy Scott; and two great-grandchildren, Abby Bishop and Tyler Bishop. He is also survived by his sister, Laura Fay Linkous; numerous nieces and nephews; and several special friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Mount Horeb Baptist Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
