Dorothy Powell

Dorothy Jones Powell, age 94, of Chase City, VA, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018. She was born November 29, 1923 in Richmond, VA to the late Robert Frasia Jones and the late Zelotie Rebecca Gravitt Jones.

She was a member of Public Fork Christian Church, Red Oak, VA and retired from Virginia Electric and Power Company in Chase City. Mrs. Powell was a devoted mother and caretaker to her son, Kenneth for the last 35 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Powell; brother, Robert Kenneth Jones; and devoted family friend, Ricky Reese.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Kenneth Ray Powell of Chase City; cousins, Doris Fields and husband, Gary and Deborah Winn and husband, Scott; and special friends, Ray Rickman and wife, Valeria and Connie Clark.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Woodland Cemetery, Chase City, VA.
