Nancy Jeffreys Woodall died on January 13, 2019 at The Fountainview Alzheimer’s Center of Atlanta at the age of 91. Nancy was born in Chase City, VA on July 30, 1927 to the late Albert L. Jeffreys, Sr. and Virginia Gibbs Jeffreys. After graduating from Chase City High School, she attended Greenbrier Junior College, W. VA, Longwood College in Farmville, VA and writing seminars at Columbia University in New York City. She was married to Thomas W. Woodall of LaCrosse, VA until Tom’s death in 2012. She assisted her husband in his law practice from 1964-72. Nancy was a prize-winning poet and playwright, having published some of her poetry in her book Lead Me There. During her life she enjoyed her book club, Sunday school class at Oak Grove Methodist Church in Decatur, Georgia, the Alliance Theatre, the symphony, music, painting, travels in the U.S. and Europe, activities with her close friends, and especially golfing with her husband Tom. Her parents, husband, and brother, Albert Jeffreys, Jr. all predeceased her.
The celebration of her life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel, Chase City, VA , with Rev. Gina Bottoms Maio officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
