Vera Rutledge

Vera Newcomb Rutledge, 95, of Chesterfield, Virginia (formerly of Red Oak, Virginia) passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021. She was born January 3, 1926 in Chase City, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Shields S. Newcomb and the late Ethel Mae Carter Newcomb.

She was retired from Russell Stover Candy Factory.

Mrs. Rutledge was preceded in death by her husband, I.J. (Julie) Rutledge and son, Rusty Rutledge. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Rutledge Adkins (Robert); grandchildren, Julie Adkins Mauro (Matt), David B. Adkins II (Heather), Amanda Rutledge Beardsley (David), Ashley Rutledge D’Alessandro (Michael), and Ryan Rutledge; great-grandchildren, Austin Snellings (Summer) Matthew Mauro, Benjamin Adkins, Andrew and Dylan Beardsley, and Anna Claire D’Alessandro; and great-great-grandsons, Brody and Roman Snellings.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Red Oak, Virginia. The family will receive family and friends following the service.
