Arlene Jones Langford, age 90, of Chase City, Virginia, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022. She was born August 22, 1931 in Red Oak, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Alvin Thornton Jones and the late Ozelia Terry Jones.
Arlene was a member of Public Fork Christian Church. She was also a dedicated member of the Chase City Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary where she served as a Transport Coordinator. She was the owner, secretary and bookkeeper for Ray’s Auto in Chase City. She truly enjoyed her job and loved seeing all of the customers. Arlene loved flowers, enjoyed cutting grass, and adored her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph T. Jones and Allen “Bill” Jones; and her best friend, Mary Helen Palmer Morefield.
Arlene is survived by her three daughters, Beverly Langford Willis (Paul) of Fort Mitchell, Janet Langford Lawson (David) of Clarksville, and Carol Langford Hartsoe of Chase City; her son, Ray Langford, Jr. (Denise) of Red Oak; grandchildren, Cameron Hartsoe, Jacob Lawson (Mary), Samantha Langford (Gunnar Nelson), Jessica Lawson Barker (Dillan), and Shirl Hartsoe; and one great-granddaughter, Callen Grey Nelson. She is also survived by her sister, Gladys J. Lanyon of Chase City; two nieces, Sandra Tharpe and Beverly Brame; and her caregiver, Yvonne Tucker.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Public Fork Christian Church Cemetery with Reverend Ralph “Red” Moore officiating.
Friends and family are welcome at the home of Carol Hartsoe.
