Jessie Sipes

Jessie Poteat Sipes, age 89, of Chase City, VA, passed away on June 2, 2011. She was born on August 17, 1921 to the late George and Lucy Poteat. She is survived by four daughters, Mary Lee Lacks and Elijah of Roanoke Rapids, VA, Linda Jackson of Chase City, VA, Brenda Gupton and Frank of Savannah, GA, and Judy Jones and Ronnie of Halifax, VA, one sister, Estelle Powell of South Boston, VA, two brothers, Vance Poteat of Goldsboro, NC and William Poteat of Halifax, VA, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She is predeceased by two sons, Ronnie Sipes and John Sipes. She was a member of the Church of God in Chase City, VA. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home.
