Annie Watson Wilkins

Annie Claire Watson Wilkins, age 73, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Monday, August 22, 2022. She was born August 11, 1949 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Lee Alvin Watson and the late Betty Catherine Gittman Watson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Paylyn Dawn Rutledge and two brothers, Jimmy Watson and Ray Watson.

Annie is survived by her husband, Tyree Roland Wilkins; her children, Tammy Wilkins Hoke (Sam), Christopher Scott Wilkins (Toni), and Misty Dawn Carnes (Rushton); grandchildren, Ashley Sever (Dustin), Lauren Zunikoff (Dan), Erin Hoke (Matthew), Blake Hatcher (Rebecca), and Tyler Wilkins; and great-grandchildren, Mila Roark, Claire Zunikoff, Hayes Sever, and Wattson Hatcher. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Betty Deans, John Watson, Herbert Watson, Carolyn Clary, and Alvin Watson; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends.

Annie was a beloved Manager/Cafeteria Worker for Mecklenburg County Public Schools for many years. She was a member of Mount Horeb Baptist Church, dedicated member of the Chase City Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Chase City Rescue Squad. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing BINGO, reading books, crossword puzzles, and cooking. Above all else, Annie loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Mount Horeb Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Grover Cleveland will officiate.
