Donnie Napier

Donnie Darrell Napier, 81, of Wylliesburg, Virginia passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023. He was born June 2, 1941 in Charlotte County, Virginia and was the son of the late Oddie James Napier and the late Mary Lee Napier. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Rickman Napier; son, Robbie Napier; brother, James Napier; and sister, Scarlett Napier Chappell. 

Donnie is survived by his fiancé, Mary Owen; daughter, Teresa Napier Morris (Brian); sons, David Napier (Cheryl) and Merle Owen; granddaughter, Taren Morris Barton (Joe); grandsons, Derrick Napier (Racheal), Tyler Morris, and Isaac Napier; great-grandsons, Camden, Walker, and Jackson Barton; and great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Devin Napier and Berkleigh Hendricks. He is also survived by his brothers, Elton Napier (Audrey) and Kenneth Napier; sisters, Barbara Haley, Annette Burns (Gary), and Nelda Napier; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

As a child, he attended Eureka Baptist Church in Keysville, VA with his mother. Donnie was an employee for Burlington Industries in Clarksville, VA for 42 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed coaching Dixie Youth Baseball. He loved cooking, gardening and hunting. He was an avid NASCAR race fan and also enjoyed attending races at the South Boston Speedway. His favorite pastime was traveling with his family, especially to his favorite places - Myrtle Beach, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and the mountains. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, 6700 Barnesville Highway, Red Oak, VA 23964. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church’s fellowship hall.
