Elizabeth Kates Dearman, 93, of Skipwith, Virginia passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at her home. She was born September 2, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Albert Henry Kates, Sr. and the late Willie Belle Keesee Kates.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Luther “Jim” Dearman, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Kates Amatucci; and brothers, Albert Henry Kates, Jr., Meredith “Mack” Kates, and Harry Kates.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Pamela Dearman Williams (Larry Smith) of Skipwith; son, James Albert “Al” Dearman (Donna) of Skipwith; grandchildren, Carey Roberts (Laura) and Michael Williams (Sherry); one great-granddaughter, Olivia Roberts; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Yates and Peggy Kates; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved church family.
Elizabeth was a devoted member of Ephesus United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and member of the choir. She was a loving friend, neighbor and “mom” to many. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and loved to laugh. Above all else, she loved her family, her church, and Christ her Savior.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Ephesus United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Jim Fry will officiate.
