Fannie Pruden Falls Simmons, age 103, of Chase City, Virginia, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024. She was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia on December 13, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Jerome Jefferson Falls and the late Ada Emmaline Falls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Taylor Simmons and her son, Raymond Michael Simmons. She was the youngest child of 14 children who all preceded her.
Fannie is survived by her daughters, Linda Simmons Matthews (Irving) and Joyce Simmons Walker (Tommy) both of Chase City; grandchildren, Perry Anne Matthews (James Wilson), Donna Gail Matthews Meinhardt (Matt), William Thomas Walker, Jr. (Andrea) and Elizabeth Anne Walker Jones (Steven); great-grandchildren, Taylor (Sasha), Christopher, Mia and Aaron Meinhardt, Rachel and Madelyn Walker, Dessa, Lyle, Walker, Pierce and Tyree Jones; and great-great-grandchild, Liliana Meinhardt.
She was a loving caretaker to many children and was affectionately known as “great-gram” to everyone. She was the oldest member of Concord Baptist Church and a life time member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church with Pastor Joe McDowell and Dr. Steven Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Chase City. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service in the church.
