Gwendolyn Towery

Gwendolyn Farren Towery, 80, of Gladys, Virginia, formerly of Chase City, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023. She was born March 7, 1942 in Hopewell, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Charles Frances Farren and the late Dorothy Parker Farren. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Burton Towery and her brother, Frances Farren.

Gwendolyn is survived by her children, Michael Towery, Zachary Towery (Julie) of Boones Mill, VA, Steven Towery (Nancy) of Gladys, VA, Angela Spencer (Kevin) of Pleasant View, VA and Donna Jo Wood; grandchildren, Michelle Sigmon, Matthew Sigmon, Nicole Sigmon, Martin Towery, Sarah Towery, Felicia Stump, Kimberly Wood, Vivian Wood, Brendan Towery, Erin Towery, Bobby Jean Towery, Dylan Goff, and Shawn Fellers (Nikki); great-grandchildren, Amber, Timmy, Skylar, Kayleigh, Bailey, Aubrey, Paisley, Tristan, Wynter, Ariella and several other great-grandchildren. 

A private burial will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Chase City. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Gwendolyn’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
