Harrell Bagbey

Harrell Hoover Bagbey, 73, of Clarksville, Virginia passed away Monday, January 8, 2024. He was born March 27, 1950 and was the son of the late Ryland Bagbey and the late Bessie Gordon Bagbey. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Perry Bagbey and dear friend, Frank Hudson.

Harrell is survived by his wife, Sandra Bugg Bagbey; two sons, Kevin Bagbey of Clarksville and Patrick Bagbey (Laurie) of Banner Elk, NC; and grandchildren, Tyler Bagbey, Christopher Bagbey, Ryland Bagbey, and Hollis Bagbey. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Daryl Bagbey, Danny Bagbey, Debbie Moore, and Sandra Lenhart; numerous nieces and nephews, and his very close friends, Michael Allgood, Lloyd Williamson and all of his golf buddies. 

Harrell was a former Auto Mechanic teacher for Park View High School for 20 years and a Maintenance Ranger at Occoneechee State Park. He was a life long sports enthusiast and especially enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, slow pitch softball and in his later years he enjoyed golfing. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball for many years. He had a true passion for teaching and coaching and kept in touch with many former students. He had a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor. Above all else, he was a wonderful dad to his sons and his family and friends meant the most to him. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel in Chase City. A visitation will be held following the service at the funeral home.
