Mary Wright

Mary “Sissy” Wright, 85, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was born February 15, 1939 in Chase City and was the daughter of the late John Garland Fitz and the late Lillian Dickerson Fitz. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia “Cindi” Wright; and brother, John Garland “Jackie” Fitz. 

Sissy is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, James Calvin “Sonny” Wright; son, Mark Floyd Wright (Deborah) of Chase City; grandchildren, Sarah Wright, Jennifer Flynn, James Flynn, Steven Flynn and Chris Magann; and nephews, John Fitz, Gray Fitz, Dale Langford and Keith Langford.

She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Chase City. She loved her church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She was a retired Secretary and Bookkeeper for several local businesses (Middleton Press, Mecklenburg Tire, and Southside Utility Maintenance.) She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a wonderful person to all. 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Michael Blythe officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service in the church.
