Robert Neal Carter, 85, of Boydton, Virginia passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at his home. He was born June 29, 1937 in Danville, Virginia and was the son of the late Joseph Henry Carter and the late Mary Allgood Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Morgan Carter; brother, Henry Edward Carter; sisters, Nellie Carter Allgood and Mary Alice Carter; and nephew, Jeff Mull.
Robert Neal is survived by his children, Robert Morgan Carter (Pamela) of Chase City, Kimberly Carter Moore (John) of Chase City, and Virginia Alice Carter of Boydton; granddaughters, Peyton Moore Gilliland (Matthew), Sarah Mackenzie Moore, and Abby Michelle Moore; a step-granddaughter, Shawna Bryant (Scott) and her two daughters, Breanna and Greenley. He is also survived by his sister, Rachel Wilmoth; sister-in-law, Nancy Morgan Brady; and brother-in-law, Larry Morgan (Nancy); nieces and nephews, Curtis Allgood (Peggy), Susan Tragesser (John), Sylvia Newcomb (Lawrence), Brenda Gill (William), Marty Carter (Janet), Scott Mull (Gina), Jason Mull (Wendy), Gena Gregory (Keith), Amber Young, Chris Brady (Leigh), Bradford Brady (Desirée), Jeff Morgan (Beth) and Jennifer Morgan; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and his special friends, Kenneth Reamey and Carlton Allgood.
He was a United States Army Veteran, serving two years with the Military Police. He was a life time member of Easter’s United Methodist Church, a founding member of Easter’s Hunt Club, former co-owner of C & S Construction, and owner and operator of Carter Construction until his retirement. He enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. Robert Neal loved to sing and play music with his banjo or guitar and especially enjoyed Thursday evening music night at Easter’s Hunt Club.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 14, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Herman Newcomb officiating. Interment will follow in Easter’s United Methodist Church Cemetery. A reception will follow the services at Easter’s Hunt Club.
