Robert Thompson

Robert Lee Thompson, 85, of Chase City, Virginia passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024. He was born April 28, 1939 and was the son of the late Arthur Lee Thompson and the late Katherine Vargo Thompson. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Claude W. Thompson and sister, Frances T. Tuck. 

Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Icenhour Thompson; his children, Dennis Todd Thompson of Chase City, VA, Stephen Dale Thompson of Chase City, VA, and Michelle Thompson Vaughan (Derrick) of Prince George, VA; grandchildren, Lauren Danielle Vaughan Togger (David), Victoria Rachel Thompson, and Madison Nicole Vaughan; sister, Joyce T. Seay; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was a member of Easters United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and taught Sunday school for many years. He was owner and operator of Thompson’s Electric Motor Service and Thompson’s Fire Suppression Systems in Chase City. Robert loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening, beekeeping and raising livestock (sheep and cows.) He also enjoyed deer, turkey and rabbit hunting. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics fan. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Easters Church Cemetery. Reverend Dr. Jody Robinson Jessup will officiate. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
